If you also use UPI (Unified Payment Interface) online transaction, then this news is very important for you. Because the government is bringing a rule related to UPI payment service from April 1. According to this rule, if the number linked to your bank account is not activated, then the UPI system will be removed from it and you will not be able to do online transactions.

Instructions to delink to prevent cyber crime

National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the organization that regulates online transactions, has instructed banks and payment service providers to delink such mobile numbers. This decision was taken so that the increasing cyber crime in India can be stopped.

Rule brought to prevent frauds

Actually, many times after the users’ numbers are closed, the companies allot those numbers to another user. In such a situation, the risk of fraud from the bank accounts linked to that number increases. Therefore, NPCI has instructed banks to identify inactive numbers of UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and remove them from their system.

Warning will be given before discontinuing the service

This means that if your number is not active for a long time, it can be automatically removed from the bank’s records. Users will be sent an alert message to discontinue the UPI service. If a mobile number remains inactive despite the warning, it will be removed from the UPI system.
