The ED team has brought Akshay Chhabra, the kingpin of the International Drugs Syndicate, from Dibrugarh to Punjab. Actually, the ED team had sought 8 days remand from the Special Court. Where the court had given 5 days remand to ED. ED wants to interrogate Chhabra in depth, so he has been taken on remand.
Was arrested from Jaipur
Akshay Chhabra was arrested by the National Crime Branch team from Jaipur in the year 2022. Along with this, Jaspal Singh alias Goldie was also arrested. When the matter was investigated, it was found that he used to smuggle drugs from Attari and Gujarat port in Punjab.
Used to work in a medicine shop
Investigation revealed that before Akshay Chhabra became the kingpin of the International Drugs Syndicate, he used to work in a medical shop. While his father used to sell tea. After getting into drug smuggling, he bought a luxurious house in Ludhiana Nitesh Vihar and also built a big farmhouse.
During a visit to Chhabra’s business firms and warehouses in the New Anaj Mandi, it was found that he was running ‘Guru Kirpa Trading Firm’ from where he used to do wholesale trading of ghee, edible oil, rice and other products.
